I-1000 & I-2000 LED Intensity Heads
Spectral radiant intensity & luminous intensity measurements per CIE 127
Part of the modular Labsphere spectroradiometer system, the I-1000 & I-2000 are sensor heads that provide for measurements of the spectral radiant intensity of individual LEDs in accordance with CIE publication number 127, condition A & B. Your can add the I-1000 or I-2000 to your existing integrating sphere or Half Moon spectroradiometer system, or you can assemble a dedicated intensity spectroradiometer using the I-1000 / I-2000, a CDS-series spectrometer and LightMtrX software.
Accurate Intensity Measurements of Single LEDs
The I-1000 and I-2000 are accessory sensor heads that satisfy the requirements of CIE 127 for performing average (near-field) intensity measurements of single LED emitters. The I-1000 meets CIE 127 condition A with a working distance of 100mm (0.1sr), while the I-2000 meets both CIE conditions A and B with a selectable working distance of 100 (0.1sr) or 316mm (0.01sr). Each head is fitted with an SMA fibre optic adaptor and works in conjunction with a CDS-series CCD array spectrometer which provides accurate luminous intensity and colour measurements regardless of the type of light source under test. Unlike an ordinary filter photometer, a CDS-series spectrometer measures spectral radiant intensity and applies the CIE standard photopic observer function in software. The result is accurate candela readings even with narrow bandwidth LEDs.
Please note that the I-1000 and I-2000 heads are designed specifically for measuring the average intensity of single LED emitters in the standardised geometry defined in CIE 127. These heads are NOT suitable for measuring the far-field intensity of lensed LEDs, LED clusters or luminiares. For this kind of measurement, you can simply use our E-1000 irradiance receiver placed in the photometric far-field, record the illuminance and calculate the luminous intensity based on the working distance.
LS-Series LED Sockets Simplify Testing
Accessory LED mounting sockets are available for use with the I-1000 and I-2000 (they can also be used with a CSLMS-series integrating sphere spectroradiometer system using an the LS-200-PF port socket adaptor). The LS-series sockets accurately hold the device under test at the input to the intensity heads and at the required measurement working distance (100 or 316mm). The LED test sockets feature a repeatable loading mechanism that locks the sample in place; simply depress the locking mechanism, insert your LED, and flip down the precision alignment arm and in less than 5 seconds you are ready to perform your measurement. The LED sockets come with a quick disconnect 3m cable which terminates in banana connectors for use with your power supply or LED driver. Sockets are available for a variety of standard, high brightness LEDs (see Specifications below for details), while custom-designed sockets can be supplied for other types of LED package.
Instantaneous Candela, CCT & Dominant Wavelength Data
The CDS-series array spectrometer not only promotes measurement accuracy, it also provides instantaneous spectral acquisitions. Unlike tradition scanning spectroradiometers that record the spectral power one wavelength at a time, the CDS-series spectrometer records a complete spectrum in an instant. The measurement time varies with the light level of the device under test, but the typical scan time is under one second. LightMtrX software takes care of the photometric and colorimetric computations, providing candelas, chromaticity, colour temperature and dominant wavelength data in a flash.
Two Calibration Options
The I-1000 and I-2000 can be factory calibrated for spectral radiant intensity together with a CDS-series CCD spectrometer, or they can be supplied with a companion calibration lamp if you would like to be able to perform your own calibrations in-situ. The Labsphere IES-1000 is a calibration standard that provides a reference of spectral radiant intensity and spectral irradiance. The IES-1000 is supplied with a CD-ROM which provides calibration data in a format that is compatible with Labsphere's LightMtrX software.
LightMtrX Software for System Control
Your intensity spectroradiometer system is controlled from LightMtrX software which is quite simply the easiest to use software yet released for performing spectroradiometric, photometric and colorimetric measurements of light sources. LightMtrX features user-defined "methods" and the ability to perform electrical and optical testing in conjunction with a Keithley 2400 series SourceMeter.
