Luminance Photometers & Colorimeters

Spot luminance meters are used for measuring the "brightness" and colour of a defined area (or 'spot') on a display, sign or other light source. Luminance is measured in units of candelas per square meter (cd/m2), or nits for our American friends. Our range includes luminance photometers, tristimulus-response luminance colorimeters and advanced "spectral colorimeters" that provides a colorimetric accuracy approaching that of a spectroradiometer but at a fraction of the cost. If you need to measure the luminance or colour uniformity (for example, of displays or instrument panels or LED arrays or video screens), you may wish to consider a ProMetric Imaging Photometer. For the highest accuracy and for colour rendering measurements, you should consider a spectroradiometer.

The Admesy Brontes is a high speed luminance colorimeter that can record up to 5,500 colour or 18,500 luminance measurements per second. The Brontes can also be used for measuring flicker from both displays and light sources in general.

The Konica Minolta CA-310 is a bench-top, tristimulus spot colorimeter with contact probe. It is used principally for the measurement of white balance, white uniformity, luminance, chromaticity and gamma of flat panel display devices including LCD and plasma. The CA-310 can also be used for flicker measurements.

The CS-150 and CS-160 are replacements for Konica Minolta's CS-100A portable, tristimulus spot luminance colorimeter and feature a 1° and 1/3° field-of-view respectively and an improved spectral match to the CIE standard XYZ colour matching functions for improved measurement accuracy. Convenient SLR reflex viewing optics simplify the targetting of the measurement spot.

The Konica Minolta CS-200 functions as a portable luminance colorimeter with SLR optics and selectable 1.0, 0.2 & 0.1° fields-of-view. Uniquely, the CS-200 uses a spectral detector system that approaches the accuracy of a true spectroradiometer but with the price and convenience of a colorimeter. This makes the CS-200 especially well suited to measuring the colour of LCDs and LEDs.
