T-10A Lux Meter

The T-10A is an affordable and simple to use illuminance meter that gives accurate lux readings with any type of light source - even with white LEDs. The T-10A conforms to the requirements of DIN 5032 Part 7 Class B with an f1' of 6%. The T-10A is the successor to the popular T-10 and the photometer version of the Konica Minolta CL-200A colorimeter. For spatial illuminance measurements, you can make multi-point measurements with the T-10A by connecting up to 30 sensor heads in series with LAN cables.

Don't confuse the T-10A's affordability with low specification though. Unlike very inexpensive lux meters, the spectral response of the T-10A's silicon photodiode is matched to within 6% of the CIE standard photopic observer function while a diffuser provides a near-cosine response for the accurate measurement of off-axis illuminance.

The T-10A provides measurements over 5 decades, from 0.01 to 299,900 lux. In nature, illuminance typically ranges from about 0.01 lux on a dark night of a new moon to about 100,000 lux on a hot summer day. Workplace illumination is normally around 1,000 lux.

The T-10A conveniently allows you to separate the sensor head from the main body of the meter. This allows you to hold the sensor towards the light source whilst standing to one side and reading the light level. To use the T-10A in this way, you will need to order a couple of optional accessories (T-A20 receptor unit for the main body and the T-A21 receptor unit for the sensor head with 1m LAN cable).

If you need to measure illuminance and access is restricted, the T-10MA employs a compact (14mm diameter versus 25mm for the standard T-10A) sensor head connected to the T-10 main body via a 1m cable. There are even special versions of the T-10MA which can be used under water. The T-10WSA and T-10WLA feature waterproof mini sensor heads with cable lengths of 5 and 10m, respectively.

Basic operation of the T-10A series meters gives you readings of illuminance in lux (or you can select foot candles if you prefer), as well as the illuminance difference and illuminance ratio. You can also measure the illuminance integrated over

time and the average illuminance. Advanced operation allows you to set a reference reading and enter colour correction factors specific to the type of light source under test.

The T-10A features as standard a USB interface and you can order optional data management software (T-S10w) which allows you to record measurement values from the meter directly into Microsoft Excel.

Zero adjustment is automatic, while you can either leave the meter to set its own range automatically or choose your preferred range manually. The LCD display features a backlight that turns on automatically under low ambient illumination. The T-10A operates as standard from AA-size batteries, while an AC mains adaptor is available as an accessory.
