The Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 family of integrating sphere spectroradiometers measure the spectral radiant flux, luminous flux, colour and colour rendering of lamps, LEDs and luminaires. With sphere sizes ranging from 0.25 to 3.0m, any size or power of light source can be accommodated. With a choice of three high speed array spectrometers, the price versus performance of your chosen Illumia Plus 2 system can be optimised for routine QA testing or the most demanding R&D applications.
Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 Overview
The Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 family of integrating sphere spectroradiometer systems measure the spectral radiant flux, luminous flux, colour and colour rendering of lamps, LEDs and luminaires. With sphere sizes ranging from 0.25 to 3.0m, any size or power of light source can be accommodated. With a choice of three high speed array spectrometers, the price versus performance of your chosen Illumia Plus 2 system can be optimised for routine QA testing or the most demanding R&D applications.
Measurement of luminous flux can be performed in either a 2π hemispheric or a total 4π geometry, and Labsphere’s Illumia Plus 2 integrating spheres support both types of tests. The advanced integrating sphere design allows “hot swap” of test sources to achieve greater efficiency and laboratory throughput. Add-on electronic modules increase functionality and simplify compliance with IES LM-79-19, IES LM-78, and equivalent CIE and EN measurement guidelines.
It goes without saying that all Illumia sphere systems incorporate auxiliary correction to compensate for the self-absorption of the device under (DUT) test placed within the sphere or at the sphere port. Without this essential option, measurements of luminous flux and chromaticity would suffer from errors easily running into the many tens of percent.
A Flexible, Modular Approach
Illumia Plus 2 sphere systems adopt a flexible, modular configuration, allowing you to adapt your investment as your needs and budget dictate. The main system components are as follows:
Spectrometer Options
Illumia Plus 2 systems can be configured with a choice of spectrometers to meet all budgets and performance requirements. Starting with the uncooled CDS-800, next up is the CDS-2600 that provides for an enhanced sensitivity and reduced noise, while for the ultimate in dynamic range and system performance we have the CDS-3000 series. For more details on our spectrometers, click on the “Spectrometer” tab above.
Integral® System Software
Labsphere’s Integral® software drives each Illumia Plus 2 system, allowing you to operate your spectroradiometer from any device at any location and in multiple languages. Automated calibration routines with built in LM-45 stabilization are featured which meet IES and EN measurement methods. Integral software also communicates with third party power supplies (AC & DC) as well as power meters, temperature monitors and temperature controllers. Other Options & Upgrades
Spectrometer Options for Illumia Plus 2 Spectroradiometers
Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 integrating sphere spectroradiometer systems can be configured with a choice of three grades of spectrometer to meet all budgets and performance requirements. All spectrometer options are controlled from Labsphere’s Integral® software.
CDS-800
The CDS-800 is the entry-level uncooled spectrometer for the range 350-1050nm.
CDS-2600
The CDS-2600 provides an enhanced sensitivity, being based upon a TE-cooled and back-thinned CCD array detector with shutter for real-time dark current subtraction. The CDS-2600 also features a hardware triggering capability. Spectral range is 350-1050nm.
CDS-3020 / CDS-3030
The CDS-3020/3030 are the spectrometers with the ultimate performance, building upon the CDS-2600 with exceptional measurement sensitivity, low stray light and wide dynamic range. An internal ND filter wheel extends the spectrometer’s dynamic range and the CDS-3020/3030 is easily synchronised with other devices. Spectral range for the CDS-3020 is 350-830nm, while the CDS-3030 is tuned for the range from 360-1100nm.

Integral® System Software for Illumia Plus 2 Spectroradiometers
Labsphere’s Integral® software drives each Illumia Plus 2 sphere system, allowing you to operate your spectroradiometer from any device at any location and in multiple languages. Automated calibration routines with built in LM-45 stabilization are featured which meet IES and EN measurement methods. Integral software also communicates with third party power supplies (AC & DC) as well as power meters, temperature monitors and temperature controllers. Integral redefines the way light is measured and revolutionizes how lighting measurements and control are synthesised into useful information. The innovative HTML5-based application software is for general lighting measurement control, test and reporting. The Application Program Interface (API) options were developed to work with your existing business software and product line integration.

Measuring Flicker with the Labsphere Flicker BT High Speed Photometer
The Labsphere Flicker-BT is a benchtop flicker photometer designed to measure temporal lighting artefacts. The health effects of flicker are divided into visible and invisible flicker. Labsphere makes it easy to measure all of the latest flicker metrics with Flicker-BT software.
Flicker-BT reports the following flicker metrics:
Labsphere’s Flicker-BT sensor is integrated with a signal condition module that connects directly to a PC – no external power is required. Data acquisition and analysis is performed either with the Flicker-IP software or with the Integral® software that controls the Illumia Plus 2 system.
