Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 LM-82 integrating sphere spectroradiometers are purpose designed for measuring the photometric and colorimetric performance of lamps and luminaires over a temperature range of 15°C to 80°C in conformance with IES LM-82. With a choice of 1.65m and 1.95m insulated integrating spheres with temperature-controlled feedback loop, almost any size of light source can be accommodated. Per IES LM-79 guidelines, the 1.65m sphere is recommended for use with linear fittings up to 110cm and lamps or downlighters up to 16.5cm diameter. The 1.95m sphere is suitable for linear luminaires of up to 130cm and downlighters up to 30cm diameter.
Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 LM-82 Overview
Labsphere Illumia Plus 2 LM-82 integrating sphere spectroradiometer systems are purpose designed for measuring the photometric and colorimetric performance of lamps and luminaires over a temperature range of 15°C to 80°C in conformance with IES LM-82.
When a solid-state light engine is used in a luminaire or fixture, the thermal environment near the LEDs is altered by both the design and the application environment. By measuring the performance characteristics of a luminaire or fixture at various temperatures, one can model the expected light output by measuring the operating temperature. Labsphere’s illumiaPlus2 LM-82 integrating sphere spectroradiometers enable you to easily characterise the thermal behaviour of your luminaire across a temperature range of 15°C to 80°C.
Automated Thermal, Optical & Electrical Characterisation
Integral® software allows users to measure the optical and thermal characteristics of a luminaire quickly, accurately and simultaneously. Each illumiaPlus2 LM-82 integrating sphere spectroradiometer includes a fully integrated Cincinnati Sub-Zero ZPRCS-1816-6-SC/AC Z Plus remote conditioner for temperature control and monitoring. Testing regimes are simplified with built-in IES LM-79-19 and CIE S025 thermal stabilization routines. All measurements are performed in full compliance with IES LM-79-19, LM-78, LM-82 and equivalent protocols, and with real- time LIVT sweeping. The typical system temperature rate of change is 52 minutes (20°C to 80°C) and 45 minutes (80°C to 20°C).
Advanced Sphere Design
Measurement of total luminous flux are performed with Illumia Plus 2 LM-82 with a 4π geometry. The advanced integrating sphere design allows “hot swap” of test sources to achieve greater efficiency and laboratory throughput. Electronic modules increase functionality and simplify compliance with IES LM-79-19, IES LM-78, and equivalent CIE and EN measurement guidelines. It goes without saying that all Illumia sphere systems incorporate auxiliary correction to compensate for the self-absorption of the device under (DUT) test placed within the sphere or at the sphere port. Without this essential option, measurements of luminous flux and chromaticity would suffer from errors easily running into the many tens of percent.
Illumia Plus 2 LM-82 sphere systems comprise the following main modules:

Measuring Flicker with the Labsphere Flicker BT High Speed Photometer
The Labsphere Flicker-BT is a benchtop flicker photometer designed to measure temporal lighting artefacts. The health effects of flicker are divided into visible and invisible flicker. Labsphere makes it easy to measure all of the latest flicker metrics with Flicker-BT software.
Flicker-BT reports the following flicker metrics:
Labsphere’s Flicker-BT sensor is integrated with a signal condition module that connects directly to a PC – no external power is required. Data acquisition and analysis is performed either with the Flicker-IP software or with the Integral® software that controls the Illumia Plus 2 system.
