Labsphere Illumia Pro 2 UV Integrating Sphere Spectroradiometer

Integrating Sphere Spectroradiometer for Thermal & Optical of Testing UV LEDs

The Labsphere Illumia Pro 2 UV integrating sphere spectroradiometer system is purpose designed for measuring the optical, thermal and electrical performance of UV LEDs and LED modules over a temperature range of 20-85°C and over the complete UV spectral band of 200-400nm. This includes the UVC band (200-280nm) that’s important for germicidal disinfection.

The intensity, spectrum and life expectancy of an LED or LED-based luminaire vary greatly both with drive current and junction temperature. By measuring the performance characteristics of the LED over a range of drive levels and temperatures, one can model the expected light output and life expectancy.

Labsphere Illumia Pro 2 UV Spectroradiometer

Illumia Pro 2 provides for automated thermal, optical and electrical characterization of UV LEDs, LED modules and solid state lighting (SSL). Integral® software allows users to measure the optical and thermal characteristics of various LEDs and arrays quickly, accurately, and simultaneously. The system includes a thermoelectric cooling stage for temperature control and monitoring. With a Keithley® SourceMeter®, the Illumia Pro 2 enables full current, voltage, and temperature sweeping – reporting radiant flux at your required intervals.

Advanced Sphere Design

The measurement of total radiant flux is performed in a 150mm (6 inch), UV-resistant, Spectralon integrating sphere in a 2π geometry. It goes without saying that all Illumia sphere systems incorporate auxiliary correction to compensate for the self-absorption of the device under (DUT) test placed within the sphere or at the sphere port. Without this essential option, measurements of luminous flux and chromaticity would suffer from errors easily running into the many tens of percent.

The Illumia Pro 2 UV sphere system comprises the following main modules:

  • 150mm (6 inch) Spectralon integrating sphere.
  • 2π measurement and calibration lamp fixtures.
  • CDS-2600-UV spectrometer (see “Spectrometer” tab above for details).
  • A xenon standard of 2π spectral radiant flux, calibrated using standards that are directly traceable to an NMI. You maintain your own sphere calibrations, eliminating problems of long-term calibration drift and avoiding the expense and down-time of needing to ship your sphere back to the vendor.
  • Auxiliary correction fitted as standard.
  • Integral® software (see “Integral Software” tab above for details).
  • Thermoelectrical (TEC) temperature controlled mounting plate for the device under test (Arroyo).
  • Keithley® SourceMeter®.

High Performance UV-Optimised Spectrometer

The Illumia Pro 2 UV system is configured with the high performance CDS-2600-UV spectrometer that provides for measurements over the range 200-400nm. The CDS-2600 is based upon a back-thinned and TE-cooled CCD sensor which results in high sensitivity and low noise. Performance is further optimised with stray light correction. For more details on the spectrometer, click on the “Spectrometer” tab above.

Integral® System Software

Labsphere’s Integral® software drives the Illumia Pro 2 UV system, allowing you to operate your spectroradiometer from any device at any location and in multiple languages. Integral software also communicates with third party power supplies (AC & DC) as well as power meters, temperature monitors and temperature controllers. For more details on Integral software, click on the “Integral Software” tab above.

High Speed UV-Optimised Spectrometer

Labsphere Spectrometer

The Illumia Pro 2 UV system is configured with the high performance CDS-2600-UV spectrometer that provides for measurements over the range 200-960nm (radiometrically calibrated range is 200-400nm). The CDS-2600 is based upon a back-thinned and TE-cooled CCD sensor which results in high sensitivity, wide dynamic range (200,000:1) and low noise. Performance is further optimised with stray light correction.
