Versatile Modular Spectrometers for UV-Vis Spectroscopy Applications

The Avantes StarLine series is a versatile range of spectrometers designed for general-purpose spectroscopy across the UV, visible, and near-infrared ranges. Known for their high resolution, fast integration times, and excellent stray light rejection, these instruments are ideal for applications such as absorbance, reflectance, fluorescence, and emission measurements.

At the forefront of this series is the AvaSpec-VARIUS™, a next-generation spectrometer platform featuring a patented optical bench and modular design. The VARIUS™ NIR Enhanced model delivers up to 2× improved sensitivity in the 700–1100 nm range, thanks to upgraded detector technology, making it ideal for demanding NIR applications. Meanwhile, the VARIUS™ OEM NIR Enhanced version offers the same high performance in a rugged, integration-ready housing with electromagnetic shielding—perfect for embedding into industrial systems.

Both models support 2048 or 4096-pixel detectors and high-speed USB3 or Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, ensuring fast, reliable data acquisition in both lab and OEM environments

The AvaSpec StarLine family of instruments comprises high-performance spectrometers which exceed the requirements of most general spectroscopy applications at a very affordable price.

The StarLine is thought for:

The entire AvaSpec StarLine is available as an individual lab instrument, as well as an OEM module for integration into customers’ existing systems.

Using CMOS instead of the conventional CCD technology, this spectrometer is entirely up to date and ready for the next decade.

The dominant position of CCD detectors in the spectrometer field is fading, and new technologies like CMOS have evolved and become a suitable alternative. The AvaSpec-ULS2048CL-EVO offers you this latest technology ensuring a spectrometer platform for the coming years.

In combination with our latest AS-7010 electronics, the AvaSpec-ULS2048CL-EVO offers you a versatile device including USB3.0 communication with ten times higher speed compared to USB2, and a second communication port that offers Gigabit Ethernet for integration in your company network and the possibility for long-distance communication, all at an affordable price.

Besides the high-speed communication options, the EVO series spectrometers also offer a fast microprocessor and 50 times more memory capacity, which can help you to store more spectra onboard and realize more functionality.

Options include a detector collection lens to enhance sensitivity in the 200-1100 nm range and an order-sorting filter to reduce second-order effects. Furthermore, the AvaSpec-2048CL is available with a wide range of slit sizes, gratings, and fiber-optic entrance connectors.

Preconfigured Models – DatasheetAvantes StarLine Spectrometers

For customers with urgent needs and general flexibility in their specifications, Avantes offers a variety of preconfigured spectrometers. We keep these spectrometers in stock, making them readily available and significantly decreasing shipping time. 

Out of the six available models, four are configured to be used for measurements in the UV-VIS-NIR range (200 to 1100 nm), one for the VIS-NIR range (360 to 1100 nm), and one just for the visible range (360 to 880 nm). Several models are equipped with a replaceable slit (RS). All preconfigured spectrometers are available at discount pricing (as opposed to custom models) and include an upgrade to AvaSoft-Full. The full specifications are listed below in the technical and order info sections.

As usual, a USB cable and an extensive manual are included with each spectrometer, so you will have everything you need to start your experiments.

Replaceable Slit Kit for SpectrometersAvantes StarLine Spectrometers

To fully utilize your AvaSpec-RS series spectrometer with a replaceable slit, we offer our slit kit. It features a complete set with four slits of 25, 50, 100, 200, and 500 μm. Also included in the kit are the tools to change the slit in the spectrometer easily.
This slit kit is available in SMA (choice of 4 SMA slits), SMA/FCPC (combination of 2 SMA and 2 PCPC slits), and FC/PC (choice of 4 FCPC and/or SMA slits) versions. All slit kits can be used on any spectrometer with the replaceable slit option installed.
Slit sizes 5 and 10 um are not included in the kit but can be ordered as separate items (recalibration of spectrometer recommended).

Sometimes a single-channel spectrometer is not enough, for example, when you want higher resolution or perform two redundant measurements simultaneously. The AvaSpec dual-channel spectrometers are designed specifically for this purpose. Each spectrometer can be configured independently. It is also possible to have different detector types in each channel.

Our AvaSpec multi-channel spectrometers fulfill your every need. You can select the right option from our range of detectors, choose different slits and gratings: anything is possible.

For the EVO series, a USB3 and an Ethernet version are available. The Ethernet version (ETH) supports standard 7 channels. With the additional hub installed, it can handle up to 10 channels.
