With the introduction of the ultracompact Raman XS spectrometer, Wasatch Photonics is poised to revolutionise field-deployable measurements. This all-in-one device integrates the spectrometer, laser, and battery into an ultra-compact design while maintaining exceptional sensitivity, thanks to its low f-number optical bench and transmission diffraction grating. The uncooled CMOS detector ensures low power consumption, making it an ideal solution for cost-effective, high-volume applications without compromising performance.
Available with a choice of Raman excitation wavelengths, all covering the fingerprint region for reliable chemical identification.
Compact, field-deployable Raman – without compromise
The XS series was designed to fulfil Wasatch’ mission of ‘Bringing Raman to Life’ – small enough to be used in the back of an ambulance or by field inspectors, sensitive & stable enough to give accurate & dependable answers, and cost-effective enough to open up new markets and use cases for Raman. Consistent with this mission, we are offering both an XS model for point sampling of materials (point-and-shoot, liquids, and powders), and an XSB model for line sampling of biomaterials (SERS substrates, lateral flow assays, inhomogeneous samples).
Key Features
WP Raman XS Series
Our high-sensitivity, f/1.3 optical bench comes with your choice of Raman excitation wavelengths, all covering the fingerprint region for reliable chemical identification. Use of an uncooled CMOS detector ensures low power draw, whether operated on battery, or over USB-C for combined power and communications. All units may be run via USB-C using the ENLIGHTENTM operating software. The free space output features an accessory interface with laser interlock, for which several accessories are available: point and shoot, cuvette/vial holder, and polystyrene calibration standard. In addition, the associated accessory
plate uses an SM05 thread, facilitating the interface of custom accessories.

WP Raman XSB Series
This unique version of our high-sensitivity, f/1.3 XS series optical bench comes with 785 nm excitation imaged into a narrow, precise line to maximise overlap with distributed, inhomogeneous, and delicate samples. It features a more limited fingerprint region and uncooled CMOS detector for reliable spectral capture on low power draw, making it ideal for life science and trace detection applications in the field. All units may be powered and run over USB-C using our ENLIGHTENTM operating software. The free space output features an SM05 accessory interface with laser interlock, with choice of microscope slide or lateral flow assay cassette holder.
