Pro-Lite Agrees Calibration Partnership with Labsphere

16 February 2026

Pro-Lite (Cranfield, UK) has entered into a strategic agreement with Labsphere, Inc. (North Sutton, New Hampshire, USA) to operate Labsphere’s European calibration laboratory from its SphereOptics GmbH facility in Herrsching, near Munich, Germany.

Under this agreement, the SphereOptics laboratory will provide optical and electrical calibration services for Labsphere’s International Light Technologies | A Division of Labsphere (ILT) brand of light measurement instruments across Europe, and Middle East (EMEA). This includes radiometers, photometers, and spectroradiometers. Previously, EMEA calibrations were carried out at Ocean Optics near Stuttgart.

This partnership significantly enhances service for ILT customers in the region, delivering faster turnaround times, expanded calibration capabilities, on-site engineering expertise, and dedicated technical and customer support. In addition to calibration services, SphereOptics will also perform repairs and servicing of ILT instruments and provide a rental service that aims to eliminate downtime when a customer’s light meter comes back for service.

With the addition of the new optical calibration laboratory, SphereOptics will operate two state-of-the-art, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited photonics calibration laboratories. Its existing reflectance laboratory already offers high-precision measurements of reflectance, transmittance, and scatter. The new optical calibration laboratory will support both ILT instruments and third-party light meters.

SphereOptics GmbH forms part of the Pro-Lite Group that incorporates Pro-Lite Technology Ltd (Cranfield, UK), Pro-Lite Technology France (Bordeaux) and Pro-Lite Technology Iberia (Barcelona).

Pro-Lite Director Robert Yeo commented “I am proud that SphereOptics has been chosen to operate the Labsphere ILT EMEA calibration laboratory. This marks a significant investment for our business, but it brings us one step closer to our goal of offering our customers a complete solution in radiometry and photometry, from the sale of equipment for almost any application in light measurement to equipment hire, service and calibration.

Labsphere President Rob Harrison added: “This partnership with SphereOptics marks a major step forward in Labsphere’s commitment to delivering world-class calibration and support to our customers across EMEA. By combining our expertise with SphereOptics’ state-of-the-art facilities and local engineering talent, we’re able to offer faster service, greater flexibility, and the highest standards of measurement accuracy. We’re excited to strengthen our presence in the region and help our customers achieve reliable results in their most demanding applications.”
