Konica Minolta T-10MA Illuminance Photometer

Portable Illuminance Photometer with Miniature Sensor

The T-10MA is a portable illuminance photometer that employs a remote, miniaturised cosine-diffused sensor on a 1m cable that is spectrally matched to the CIE V(λ) photopic observer function. The T-10MA is able to fit into smaller spaces not accessible to the larger T-10A sensor and reports illuminance in lux (lx) and in the imperial unit of footcandles (fc). The T-10MA provides a high level of measurement accuracy with an f1’ factor of 6% and the fitment of a cosine diffuser that ensures that the effective illuminance from off-axis light sources is scaled correctly.

Please note that Pro-Lite maintains a CL-200 colorimeter (predecessor to the CL-200A) – which doubles as an illuminance photometer – that is available for short term rental.

Konica Minolta T-10MA Overview

The T-10MA provides illuminance measurements from 0.01 to 299,900 lux. In nature, illuminance typically ranges from about 0.01 lux on a dark night to about 100,000 lux on a hot summer day. Workplace illumination is normally around 500-1000 lux.

The T-10MA miniature sensor is attached to the meter body via a 1m cable that allows for illuminance measurements in smaller, more inaccessible locations that would be inaccessible to the larger T-10A sensor head.

The T-10MA is optionally available with waterproofed sensors and connecting cables. These sensors are suitable for use under water – for example in a fish tank – and are available with a choice of two cable lengths. Order the model T-10WSA with a 5m cord length, or the model T-10WLA with a 10m cord length.

Basic operation of the T-10MA gives you readings of the metric illuminance in lux, or you can select the imperial foot candles if you prefer. Advanced operation allows you to hold a reference reading and enter colour correction factors specific to the type of light source under test. Zero adjustment is automatic, while you can either leave the meter to set its own range automatically or choose your preferred range manually. The LCD display features a backlight that turns on automatically under low ambient illumination. The T-10MA operates from AA-size batteries (non-rechargeable) that last for approximately 72 hours of use.

The T-10MA is capable of performing the following measurements:

Measurement

Units

Application

Illuminance

lux or footcandles

Illuminance of lamps, LEDs, luminaires, sunlight, vehicle headlamps (etc). Compared with the standard T-10A photometer, the T-10MA is able to perform measurements in much smaller, less accessible locations due to the compact, remote sensor head connected via a 1m cord. Optional waterproofed models with either a 5m or a 10m cord are available for measurements of illuminance under water.

Luminous Intensity

candelas

The luminous intensity of a lamp may be computed by applying the inverse squared rule to the measured illuminance. Note that the illuminance must be recorded in the photometric far-field.
