Piezosystem Jena Special Solutions

Piezosystem Jena offer specialised positioning solutions for non-standard piezo applications. Piezo shutter slit systems can be used in the photonics industry for shaping or collimating beams for a set purpose. Two slit edges are driven by single piezo-electric actuator in order to create a symmetrical open-close motion. Hysteresis, creep, and long-term temperature effects can be compensated for by using a strain gauge sensor, and systems can be made available for use in UHV conditions, and can even be constructed from INVAR for incredible thermal stability.

Material, vibration, and acceleration testing requires higher forces and higher dynamics than traditional piezo positioning applications. High voltage hpower shock and shake actuators are composed of pre-sintered piezo discs layered on top of each other with a high-performance adhesive and specialist layered electrodes. This manufacturing process means that hpower actuators are stiffer, with a lower capacitance, allowing for increased blocking forces and dynamic capabilities compared with standard low voltage piezoceramic stacks.

Dynamic operation up to 70 kHz can be achieved, with accelerations of up to 18,000 g, resulting in µs-range acceleration and braking. The high accelerations and stiffness allow for force generation of up to 50 kN and force bearing of up to 70 kN, and no internal mechanical play within gthe actuators means an almost unlimited lifetime.
